Our Team
Report
After graduating in 1984 from the University of Toronto I practiced in Aurora and Thornbury before moving to Port Elgin. I am a father of four and can commonly be found around town taking my youngest to sporting events. I am interested in all aspects of dentistry, but especially implants, dentures, endodontics and aesthetics.
Restorative Dentistry
Report
The bacteria in plaque uses sugars in the foods you eat (also the hidden sugars in carbohydrates) and produces acid. This acid slowly eats away the tooth. Over time the tooth gets soft and a cavity develops. At a regular dental visit one of the things dentists look for is tooth decay. Using a dental instrument and x-rays if needed, your dentist looks at all surfaced of your teeth for signs of decay.
Root Canals
Report
Root canal treatment, also called endodontic treatment, is the process of removing the pulp (live tissue inside your tooth) when it becomes injured, infected or has died. The pulp is made of nerves and blood vessels. When the pulp is infected it can be extremely painful and cause an abscess to form.
Temporomandibular Disorder
Report
The jaw joints and the muscles that allow you to chew, swallow, speak and yawn are known as tempormandibular. A problem with how the joints or muscles work may lead to temporomandibular disorder. Be aware of clenching and grinding your teeth. Your teeth should only come together when you are chewing or swallowing, otherwise there should be a small space between your upper and lower teeth.
Dentures
Report
Dentures are artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. There are two types, partial dentures and complete dentures and both are custom made to your mouth. Both types of dentures can work in combination with implants. Partial dentures may be used when many teeth are missing or when the remaining teeth are not strong enough to hold a bridge.
