Notte's Bon Ton started in 1926, and originally opened on Granville Street. The first time I visited this establishment in 1986 it looked like time had stopped still. Actually, the decor never changed, not the coziest of places. However, the experience coming inside was not about interior design, or even for good service (some of the grumpiest employees in Vancouver worked there), it was about meeting Mr. Notte and enjoying his pastries and cakes, and maybe even a coffee reading session. Years later, Notte's has moved to a new location on W. Broadway, and... it came with the same dull, old decor

Going out of business due to incompetent management! This is a tragic end of a declining Vancouver icon. So sad. I drove all the way in from Abbotsford because my friend wanted one of your cakes for her birthday tonight. Your website said you were open today. I guess your management decided that your client base didn't deserve to know that you were all taking an extra day off for Thanksgiving. Disgraceful. It isn't hard to update a website. This must be an indication that The BonTon is in financial trouble and may be going out of business. People should probably order their fancy cakes from another

After a rocky start from being the new owners they have stepped up nicely bringing the baking to as good if not better (if you can believe this)than before especially for the Diplomat cake. I ordered one for my friends birthday and us both being a Bonton long time consumer for over 50 years we both agreed the quality was better than before and now we have new bakery customers for you!

Our family has been loyal Bon Ton customers for more than 50 years. Diplomat cakes have been the cake for most of our event celebrations. However the diplomat cakes are not made the same, they have way too thick layer of cream, way too much cream filling and soggy layer of pastries. No rum taste anymore. Hope they will improve back to their traditional standard again.

First time here, we typically get our cakes from a neighbouring bakery and we were extremely disappointed. Got a cake for my daughter's birthday yesterday, went to a nice restaurant for dinner and thought we have a nice looking cake for dessert at home so didn't order any dessert. Came home and cut the cake and we literally took 2 bites out of the cake and didn't want to go back for another bite as it was grossly sweet. Couldn't taste anything but sugar. The cake was called the Chocolate Vienna by the way.
