Foods to Eat When You Have Braces

Crunchy fruits and vegetables. Whole apples and pears, raw carrots, raw celery, and more all pose risks. Whole fruits can be cut into smaller pieces, and raw veggies can be steamed or roasted to soften their texture. Maintaining a healthy diet is essential for your whole-body health, including while wearing braces.

Make sure to use toothpaste that contains fluoride, and ask your orthodontist or family dentist if you need a fluoride rinse. This will help prevent cavities! During your treatment, try to avoid foods with a lot of sugar, which increases the amount of bacteria that grows in your mouth, causing more plaque and potential cavities.
