A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures to examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision. These tests range from simple ones, like having you read an eye chart, to complex tests, such as using a high-powered lens to examine the health of the tissues inside of your eyes.

Dr. Cobean and Dr. Kincaid are trained and licensed to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye. We routinely prescribe topical and oral medications for infections, inflammations, pain, dry eye, glaucoma and allergies. We also work with the top specialists and surgeons in the province to make referrals and co-manage when indicated.
Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph

The Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph or HRT is a safe, non-invasive confocal scanning laser imaging device that can be used to obtain three-dimensional images of the optic nerve head and retina in the posterior segment. The HRT works by focusing a confocal diode laser beam with mirrors on the retina and the nerve head.

Annual eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health. We offer the optomap Retinal Exam as an important part of our eye exams. The optomap Retinal Exam produces an image that is as unique as your fingerprint and provides us with a wide view to look at the health of your retina. The retina is the part of your eye that captures the image of what you are looking at, similar to film in a camera.
Ocular Coherence Tomography OCT

In our commitment to providing the highest level of eye care available, we were the first clinic in North Bay and (remain among the very few) to provide OCT as part of our comprehensive exam. OCT is an analogous to ultrasound in that it forms 3D images of the eye; however, because the wavelength of light is much shorter than that of sound, OCT technology is capable of generating images of a much higher resolution.
