Common Conditions
Report
We know how much foot pain can take away from doing the things you love. To help you better understand the pain, we've listed some common conditions below, along with the probable cause and effective treatment options. You can be sure that a visit to our clinic is a solid step towards saying goodbye to your pain.
Patellar Tendinopathy
Report
Patellar Tendinopathy, sometimes called Jumper's knee, refers to an injury to the patella tendon, the tendon that connects the patella (knee cap) to the tibia (shin bone). The patella tendon works similar to a pulley as it provides a mechanical advantage to the quadriceps. Due to this design, activities that place a high stress on the quadriceps and the patella tendon, such as running and jumping, can lead to overuse and pain.
ACL Tear
Report
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is a major ligament in the knee. It is injured when torques in opposite directions are placed on the bones (see below). Injury to this ligament most commonly occurs during sports that place a high impulse force - a large force in a short period of time - on your knee.
Hallux Valgus Bunions
Report
Hallux Valgus, commonly referred to as a bunion, is seen as a bump at the base of an awkwardly angled big toe joint (seen below). The bump happens when the big toe angles towards the next toe, causing a deformity at the 1st Metatarsal joint, the joint that connects the big toe to the foot. Swelling at the joint, as well as pain that worsens when wearing narrow footwear, may develop.
