Sudbury Prosthetic & Orthotic Design
Martin Musson understands the importance of living an active lifestyle that keeps him young at heart. Recently, Martin was finding it difficult to do the things he loved like fishing and being a handyman. He had knee pain which was caused by a sports injury and aggravated by a missing ACL. John Martin realizes he can't change what happened in the past but makes every effort to change what happens tomorrow.

John was semi-retired and an avid outdoorsman when an impaired driver hit him, severing his right leg. Doctors were forced to amputate John's right leg and he vowed never to accept the word "can't". At Sudbury Prosthetic and Orthotic Design, we pride ourselves in bringing the most advanced technology available to our customers.
Services
Our Facility
Report
We are also a wheelchair friendly facility with a fully accessible washroom. We have a full service laboratory on site and are able to fabricate all types of prosthetic and orthotic devices. This ranges from fabricating our foot orthoses on site to externally powered upper limb prosthetics to conventional (leather and metal) orthotic devices.
Assessments
Report
When someone is faced with needing orthotic or prosthetic intervention, he or she may not always know what to expect. It is reassuring to know that there is a place you can go to get some answers about your condition, have a complete physical & biomechanical assessment performed and have the chance to review your treatment options.
Orthotics
Report
An orthosis is a custom designed and custom fabricated device to help restore function & mobility, prevent deformity and provide support and protection for an affected limb. Once a prescription for a custom orthosis has been made, the process of obtaining an orthosis may begin. At the initial appointment, the patient is assessed both physically and cognitively to determine their needs, goals, and desires.
F.a.q
Report
There are multiple sources of funding for prosthetics and orthotics. Custom orthotics and prosthetics are eligible for billing through an Assistive Devices Program (ADP). This program is run through our provincial government and it entitles you to a coverage of up to 75% of the total cost. The remaining 25% is the responsibility of the patient.
Technology
Report
The BiOM Ankle is a prosthetic ankle that is designed with the below knee amputee in mind. It replaces the function of the individual's lost muscle and tendon anatomy and provides more energy than it stores. Biom technology emulates the missing calf muscles assisting in the amputee's forward progression during each walking stride.
