Shelley Shearer School of Dance has been a leader in the Winnipeg dance community for 40 years, offering recreational, competitive, and professional dance education. Our world-class faculty and facilities prioritize integrity, passion, and professionalism, with specialized programs for ages 2 to adult. We provide limited class sizes to ensure individual attention and a full range of class levels in each discipline. Our programs are continuously updated based on decades of experience, and our teachers receive advanced training at national and international conventions.We pride ourselves on award-winning choreography, state-of-the-art sprung dance floors, and a viewing gallery with ample seating. With more local, national, and international awards than any other dance school, we offer invitational programs, assistant training, and workshops with guest instructors. Ballet Classes
Our ballet classes emphasize technique, grace, and discipline for students aged 6 to adult. Classes are structured to accommodate all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Students perform annually at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall.
Hip Hop Classes
Hip hop classes focus on rhythm, creativity, and self-expression through modern street-style movements. Instructors bring expertise from national and international competitions. Classes are available for all ages and skill levels.
Preschool Dance Programs
Age-specific programs like Two's & You and Storybook Ballet introduce children aged 2-5 to dance fundamentals. Classes promote motor skills, coordination, and musicality in a playful, engaging environment.
Competitive Dance Training

What dance styles do you offer?
We offer ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and acro for ages 2 to adult.
Are there classes for preschoolers?
Yes! We have age-specific programs like Two's & You (2 yrs), Storybook Ballet (3 yrs), and Prep Steps (5 yrs).

Yes, our award-winning competitive programs include invitational teams in all disciplines with local and international performance opportunities.
What are your office hours?
Office hours vary by day: Monday 12:00pm-5:00pm & 6:00pm-8:30pm, Tuesday-Friday 12:00pm-7:30pm, Saturday 9:00am-2:00pm, Sunday 11:30am-2:00pm.

My daughters are going here for 8 years now. Big shout out to Ms. Erin and Ms. Liza for being outstanding ballet teachers. All other teachers and assistants..Marissa, Hannah, Grace, and many others, are so helpful, always smiling and makes dance the best experience for everyone.

I had taken my girl to this place for a couple of years , I supported her, and I couldn’t get her to this year as I lost my job due to Covid! I emailed to see if I could get my refund back , since I was out of a job! They told me they couldn’t! Terrible place , if this is how Shelley gets her money! Very sad , I was so disappointed I would think due to the circumstances this year and d COVID-19 they would make an exception especially since I been a supporter for a few years and paid full all the time. I have been the musical theatre teacher at the school for all the recreational programs and invitational programs for 5 seasons. I am privileged to work with some of the most talented , hard working , enthusiastic and disciplined students. Shelley Shearer cares about the evolution of her class programming to keep up to date with professional industry standards, and protects her staff and teachers to the highest degree. Shelley Shearer School of Dance has been my dance home since I was 3 years old. I have loved learning and growing under the care and guidance of their wonderful teachers! Dancing here is a wonderful experience! I have been able to travel and compete as a Pre Professional Company Dancer in Canada and the U.S. with SSSOD. The training that I have received has been incredible!
