Architectural Hardware & Salvaged Doors in Toronto
Established in 1972, The Door Store has evolved from a small architectural salvage operation into one of Toronto's most respected destinations for architectural hardware and reclaimed materials. Founded by Sam Mirshak during his studies at the University of Toronto, our business began as a response to the careless demolition of historic buildings in the Annex neighborhood. Today, operated by the Mirshak family with an 11,000 sq ft showroom, we specialize in preserving quality architectural elements through careful sourcing from local renovations and international suppliers. Our expertise spans antique hardware, statement doors, and period-specific building materials, serving both design professionals and homeowners seeking unique solutions. With over five decades of experience, we combine deep industry knowledge with a commitment to sustainability, offering clients access to rare artifacts and practical renovation components while maintaining rigorous quality standards.

Our collection includes door handles, hinges, and cabinet fittings dating from the Victorian era through mid-century modern periods. Each piece undergoes careful restoration while maintaining original patina and craftsmanship characteristics.
Antique Doors
Our inventory features thousands of reclaimed doors from Toronto's architectural heritage. Options include solid wood entry doors, stained glass transoms, and intricately carved statement pieces. All doors receive structural reinforcement while preserving historical authenticity and unique detailing.
Window Hardware
We offer period-specific window operating mechanisms and security components. Our collection includes authentic sash lifts, casement operators, and decorative escutcheons from both local demolitions and European sources. Each piece maintains functional integrity alongside historical accuracy.
Architectural Salvage
Our salvage operations focus on preserving quality building materials from demolition sites. Available items range from fireplace mantels and newel posts to complete architectural features like entryway systems and stained glass panels, all carefully cataloged and restored.
Statement Doors
We curate distinctive entrance solutions combining historical character with modern functionality. Our selection includes elaborately carved double doors, art deco glass combinations, and custom-fitted vintage door systems suitable for both residential and commercial applications while maintaining structural safety standards.

The Door Store team are incredible! The locking mechanism on our old front door broke. They repaired it and polished the bronze and brass features within a few hours. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Thank you, Ben and Leila.

The people at the Door Store were fantastic. So kind and helpful. They explained carefully to me how to dismantle my entry door set and made the repairs for me while I waited. In all, I made three visits to the Door Store and they were unfailingly kind and helpful. Truly decent people.

My husband said the Door Store really helped today, looking for a new (old) door handle with unusual dimensions. We found it here and the service was excellent

I am not knowledgeable enough about antiques to be able to explain or express how perfect this store is. But I will 100% back up everything "A K." posted on 2/10/2011. I wish I knew this store existed 30 years ago but now will be going back as many times possible. It's not just their inventory but how everything is displayed. The space is full and yet spacious. Everything is easy to look at and beautifully decorated/ merchandised. I had been corresponding via email with Dan previous to visiting and was lucky enough to meet him in person to complete my order/ purchase and he was so
