About Us

Neighbourhood Legal Services is a non-profit and independent community legal clinic that has been serving the community since 1973. We provide free legal services and assistance to low income individuals who live within our catchment area and qualify for our services. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Online Intake

Can we leave messages?: Do you identify as Indigenous? What is your race/ethnicity? Are there special considerations (such as accommodations) we should know about to serve you best? If you are not completing an intake and have a general inquiry please call the main line at 416-861-0677 and leave a message.
Tenants Rights Resources

Once you have filled out your T2 or T6 application you can make an intake appointment to have your application reviewed by a lawyer. Depending on your application you may be ready to file and receive hearing preparation for your hearing or you may be referred to our Tenant Application Student Support Program for help improving your application.

In addition the services we provide for our community every day, NLS is also engaged in outreach activity, and has also undertaken and completed a number of special projects, highlighted here.

The Health Justice Program is a partnership between St. Michael's Hospital Academic Family Health Team, St. Michael's Hospital and legal clinics ARCH Disability Law Centre, Aboriginal Legal Services Toronto, HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic of Ontario and Neighbourhood Legal Services.The partnership is funded through Legal Aid Ontario with in-kind contributions from all partners.

Specialty legal clinic serving Black community members in areas such as education, employment, human rights, housing and police complaints. If you think your school or teacher treated you differently because of your race, gender, ability, or other personal characteristic, this may be a violation of the Human Rights Code.
