Hanscomb Glass Studio
For the past 35 years, Hanscomb Glass Studio has believed that its business is built on personal ethics, integrity, expertise, professionalism and in dealing with our customers fairly and honestly. We are committed to creating and maintaining beautiful glass work for people to enjoy and a consistency of design and high quality craftsmanship has become the hallmark of the work we do here.

While the design and fabrication of new custom and commissioned windows is the focus for the work that comes off the benches- we do enjoy creating both functional and ornamental glass work that is available through our studio storefront. Understanding that glass itself is not art- it is what we do with it that turns a common and ubiquitous material such as glass into the creative finished work we produce.
Services
Hanscomb Glass Studio is run by the husband and wife team of Neil Hanscomb and Gisela Ruehe, in the historic village of Elora. Established in 1983, Neil and Gisela have refined and developed their craft into a distinguished glass studio and store that specializes in stained, fused and leaded glass window designs.
Visit Us
Report
Hanscomb Glass Studio has become a favourite destination for visitors to the picturesque Village of Elora. The yellow clapboard century old building is nestled right downtown, and offers walk-in patrons a rare glimpse into a working studio. Adjacent to the bright workspace our store offers visitors an array of one of a kind glass work, decorative windows, fused and slumped bowls, mirrors, wind chimes and flame worked ornaments.
Portals and Panels
Report
Many of our panels are designed using Neil's signature stained glass style. Each panel has striking elements that draw the eye. With large shards of broken glass and glass pebbles as accents, the organically textured glass elegantly surrounds it. On the smaller panels, the frame may be "broken" which further accentuates the organic and fluid look of the panel.
Drapes
Report
Clear Glass Drapes add a touch of class to your living dcor. This decorative piece has been heat-formed and draped in a kiln at approximately 1400 degrees Fahrenheit to produce an intriguingly unique design. Called "slumped glass" from its melting process, the handkerchief style candle holder mimics the casual folds of a dropped cloth.
Tealight Lantern
Report
Our Tealight Glass Lanterns have been created from re-purposed bottles. The shade of the candle holder has been etched by using live tree branches which we carefully sandblast around. Each shade is oiled giving the candle light a soft glow and avoids fingerprints from handling. Our Tealight Lanterns are a classic and timeless item.
