The Pellerin name all started with Alcide Pellerin in 1956, when Rheal and Richard's father started a painting contracting company, Pellerin Brothers, with his brother Amede Pellerin. Rheal followed in his father's footsteps and joined his paint crew at the young age of 17! It wasn't until 1977, when Rheal got approached by Crown Diamond, known as Sico today, to be the first dealer in Northern Ontario.
Crown Diamond wanted to partner up with Rheal due to the reputation his family had built and Rheal saw the opportunity to reach a new market: the do-it-yourself. It was a win win for everyone! They first opened on Main Street in North Bay, with a total of 900 square feet. Rheal would continue to paint during the day and took night courses to learn accounting with his wife, Joyceline.
