Our Founder Doug Friesen was born and raised in Grande Prairie. During his experience as a Funeral Director, he became increasingly aware of the changing needs and expectations of the Peace Country and its families. With a commitment to a high standard of care of individuals, families, and the community as a whole, he and his wife Eunice founded Bear Creek Funeral Home.

Born and raised in Grande Prairie, Doug has committed his life to working in and owning local businesses as he and his wife Eunice raised their family. Doug worked in the printing industry for a number of years before owning and operating his own service businesses. With his gentle manner and family-centered approach, Doug has developed excellent and trusting relationships within our community.

Our Reception Centre can accommodate 40 or 400 in two beautifully appointed halls and galleries. Our Halls and the Gallery are all connected via hard-wired, live streaming for convenient overflow and total capacity of around 400. Live-streaming can include online access for family and friends across the globe.
