David was born and raised in Northern Ireland and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Belfast in 1977 and his Chartered Accountancy designation in Ireland in 1981.
He immigrated to Calgary later that year and obtained his Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants designation in 1985. In 1988, he joined Jayda Rosenthal to form Hamilton & Rosenthal Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP. David has devoted much of his professional time to the construction industry.
