Jazz Dance

Jazz classes combine technical precision with creative expression for ages 6 and up. Students learn dynamic movements, rhythm, and performance skills in a high-energy environment. This style builds foundational abilities transferable to other dance genres while emphasizing musicality and stage presence.

Ballet Training

Ballet classes focus on classical technique from beginner to advanced levels. Students develop posture, grace, and discipline through structured barre work and center combinations. Exams are available for serious dancers pursuing formal certification in Grade 1-8 Ballet.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop classes teach street-style dance techniques to contemporary music. Students master isolations, rhythm, and freestyle expression in a boys-only and co-ed format. Classes emphasize individuality while building coordination and performance confidence.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre combines dance, acting, and singing in age-appropriate routines. Students learn choreography from popular stage productions while developing stagecraft and character interpretation skills. Classes prepare dancers for theatrical performances and competitions.

Creative Ballet

Creative Ballet introduces dance fundamentals to children aged 3-5 through imaginative play and storytelling. Classes use props and music to develop motor skills, rhythm, and basic ballet positions in a nurturing environment that fosters early creativity.

Susan Laing established Airdrie Dance Academy in 1992 after studying dance in Alberta and British Columbia. With over 40 years of experience, she specializes in creating inclusive environments where students develop technical skills and self-confidence through dance education.

Miss Susan and this entire studio has been an absolute pleasure to work with. My son joined just before Covid started and Miss Susan has gone above and beyond to adapt to every situation, and keeping the kids dancing! We are starting year 3 and look forward to many more!

Susan is incredible with her dancers. She is personable and fun-loving yet also instills a sense of discipline and focus in her dancers. I love watching her interact with the group. A superb dance studio with directors who understand the dedication and drive necessary to help fullfill a youngster's dreams.

When my daughter started dancing at age four, we thought we'd made a mistake: she freaked out every time class started for the first six weeks. But, Miss Susan persevered, drew her out, and gave her the confidence to try. Four seasons later, we can't imagine dancing anywhere else. Both of our kids are now in classes at Airdrie Dance, and we love how much they love it without having to dedicate their lives to training. Smiles and fun, teamwork and relaxed, healthy competition - Susan Laing and her teachers are amazing. Ignore the griping review - angry parents who don't want to post their names

Be careful with this school. My daughter was refused because I questioned the owner why they charge 4 X more for dance costume, when the more they buy, the cheaper it is. The owner said to parents that shipping is included but the shipping is for free from the company. This school only wants your money, no passion for dance.
