Their start was a very humble one, in the first few months they had several days where they put meat in the counter in the morning and took the same meat out again at the end of the day. It did not take long for the community to realize that they now had a source for fresh high quality local meat, along with fast and friendly service.

Word of mouth soon spread the good news and the business has continued to grow ever since. The core values of providing high quality local meats with efficient and friendly staff have taken us this far and this is our guide in all the business decisions we make. As the business has grown over the years the staff, the building and the product list have all grown along with it.

Townsend Butchers locally raised beef is supplied by Miller Land and Livestock of Jarvis Ontario. They are on a diet of grass and also grain. That way there is no growth hormones or drugs are used in finishing the animals. We have been dealing with them for 30 over years. Townsend Butchers sources all its pork locally.
Cooking Tips

Place back ribs or side ribs on a cookie sheet in the oven. Bake at 300 degrees for 3 hours. Take pan out of oven and drain the grease. Season the ribs with your favourite seasonings and either place on the BBQ or back in the oven for 10 minutes. The ribs are now ready to serve. Place an appropriately sized beef roast in a roast pan, add water to a depth of about 1 inch or 2.5 cm.
