We are a second generation, family-owned full service marina with active third generation participation. With only one previous owner, Sound Boat Works Ltd. has a rich history, steeped in tradition and familial pride. John and Ruth Shipman purchased a wooden boat building business in 1973. Over time and with the help of their son Gerry, they transformed it into the full service marina that it is today.
The amenities are modern though the exterior is not. It all adds to the charm and authentic feel of a working boatyard with the expertise of modern technology and trained staff to provide for all your boating needs. The marina is definitely a "boaters" marina. Customers love to be in their boats, whether power or sail, and out on the waters of Georgian Bay.
