Trees sold are geared towards NL growing zone 5 or 5B - restricts variety but increases the chance of success. Zone trees (less than 5) do well too; our experience has helped us tweak our selection for harsh climates. The first year is the most important in terms of customer care and intervention - after that, they are self sufficient.

When planted, trees MUST be staked - if root ball moves - the tree will not root properly. Trees are a large investment but some live 50 to 100 years - a smart investment for increased real estate value. The larger the home - the larger trees required to maintain scale - large trees can overtake a small property.
Services
The Siberian Cypress makes a fantastic ground cover. It's dense, vigorous, low growing, spreading 2 metres in diameter - a variety that's bright green in Summer and turns coppery in Fall. It's very, very hardy and I have several planted. Shrubs are "the best bang for your buck" as they are fairly inexpensive and have a long grow life.
Pay attention to the plant tags - they give accurate info on shade/sun, height, color, size and spacing requirements - so not to end up with an over crowded garden in five years. BE PATIENT! Do proper spacing - cover open areas with mulch. Vines are the perfect answer to unsightly fences, decks or low lying buildings.
Annuals last only one season but bring immense colour and excitement to your garden for a very low cost. They come in all colours / varieties - are the least expensive plants and make a great starter project for beginners. Annuals can be planted in shady or sunny areas; some attract birds and butterflies; some repel insects.
