South Whitby Veterinary Services has been dedicated to providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats in Whitby since 2013. Our practice, housed in a converted century home, offers a full range of medical services including wellness exams, surgical procedures, dental care, and nutritional counseling. We prioritize preventative medicine to ensure pets enjoy long, healthy lives. Our team, led by Dr. Dan Baturensky and Dr. Keira McTeer, combines extensive experience with a compassionate approach to pet care.

We emphasize early wellness programs for puppies and kittens, and our facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools like digital radiology. For emergencies outside our hours, we collaborate with the Animal Emergency Clinic of Durham Region. Services
Wellness Exams
Our comprehensive wellness exams assess your pet's overall health through physical evaluations, diagnostic testing, and age-specific screenings. These visits help detect early signs of disease, ensure vaccinations are up-to-date, and provide tailored recommendations for nutrition and exercise. Regular checkups are essential for maintaining long-term health in pets of all life stages.
Vaccinations
We offer core and non-core vaccination programs tailored to your pet's lifestyle and risk factors. Our protocols protect against diseases like rabies, distemper, and feline leukemia while following strict safety guidelines. Vaccination schedules are customized for puppies, kittens, adult pets, and seniors to ensure optimal immune system support throughout their lives.
Dental Care
Our dental services include professional cleanings, periodontal disease treatment, and oral surgery. Using digital radiography and modern anesthetic protocols, we address issues like tartar buildup, gingivitis, and tooth resorption. We also provide home care guidance to maintain oral health, which directly impacts your pet's overall well-being and longevity.
Spaying/Neutering
We perform spaying and neutering surgeries to prevent unwanted litters and improve pet health. These procedures reduce risks of reproductive cancers, curb behavioral issues, and help control pet overpopulation. Our team provides pre-surgical evaluations, pain management plans, and post-operative care instructions to ensure safe recovery for your pet.
Nutritional Counseling
Our nutritional consultations create customized feeding plans based on your pet's age, breed, health status, and activity level. We help manage weight issues, address food sensitivities, and recommend premium diets that meet AAFCO standards. This service includes guidance on portion control, treat selection, and interpreting pet food labels for informed decision-making.

We come here for our puppy. The staff is super friendly and caring. We had problems with our puppy and the receptionist called us every few days to check in and to give us some advice. Doctor Dan is friendly as well and has a good understanding of your animal and informs you of all things going on with your pet

We've been taking our dog "Bill" here since getting him four years ago. Dan and his staff have been so great. From minor health issues to a couple of pretty major scares they have treated my best little buddy better than I could have ever hoped for. Best vet in Durham.
