Your Trusted Acupuncture & Wellness Partner in Coquitlam
As a seasoned acupuncturist with over 30 years of experience, I founded Betty's Acupuncture to provide holistic healthcare rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. My journey began in Nanjing, China, where I studied at one of the country's top TCM universities, and continued through practice in Asia before establishing this clinic in Coquitlam in 2002. We specialize in personalized treatments that address the root causes of ailments rather than just symptoms, utilizing acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other TCM techniques. Our approach integrates the philosophy of Yin-Yang balance and Five Elements theory to restore harmony within the body. With fluency in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, we serve a diverse patient base and emphasize patient education to empower self-care.

Our clinic combines decades of expertise with compassionate care, maintaining strict hygiene standards and using disposable needles for safety. We treat conditions ranging from chronic pain to mental health issues, focusing on each individual's unique physiological and socio-cultural context. As a registered practitioner with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncture of British Columbia, I uphold the highest professional standards. Our team includes certified professionals like Akiyo Toji, who brings specialized skills in Tui-Na massage and clinical aromatherapy. We remain committed to advancing TCM through continuous learning and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Services
Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses fine needles to stimulate energy flow through meridians, promoting natural healing and pain relief. Our practitioners target specific acupoints to restore balance and treat chronic conditions. This drug-free therapy enhances immunity and improves overall well-being through traditional Chinese techniques.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Customized herbal formulations address specific health issues by restoring internal balance. These time-tested remedies support the body's natural healing processes for digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, and chronic pain management. Each prescription considers individual constitution and health goals.
Tui-Na Massage
Tui-Na applies targeted pressure to meridians and acupoints to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation. This therapeutic massage technique addresses musculoskeletal issues and promotes energy flow. Sessions combine deep-tissue work with traditional Chinese medical principles for holistic healing.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping creates therapeutic suction to release muscle tension and improve blood flow. This technique effectively treats chronic pain, respiratory conditions, and stress-related ailments. The therapy promotes detoxification and enhances the body's natural healing response through controlled suction application.
Pain Relief
Our pain management approach combines acupuncture, herbal medicine, and physical therapies to address root causes. Treatments target conditions like arthritis, migraines, and sports injuries through personalized protocols. We focus on long-term relief rather than temporary symptom suppression using integrated TCM methods.

The most caring, mindful TCM and acupuncturist. I'm so grateful to have found Betty. She's helped me successfully so far with stomach issues and knee/back pains and I'll continue to see her for everything else.

I have utilized Betty's Acupuncture for tuina massage to relieve stress and tension. I feel very comfortable and relaxed after each session, and this makes my work and all around feeling of well being, perfect! I also, fortunately, receive a brief acupuncture treatment on a big toe that had been troubling me for about three months due to an ingrown toenail. The acupuncture was effective at relieving both the swelling and soreness. I can wear shoes comfortably again, instead of sandals, and that is priceless.

After suffering from a bad frozen shoulder for 18 months and not gaining any traction from a plethora of physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and masseuses, I decided to give acupuncture a shot. Betty did an amazing job, much more than I had thought possible. She goes over and above on every appointment and isn't done with you until she's satisfied. She also won't string you along for needless appointments afterwards, which is a nice change from some of the others.

My wife and I have been seeing Betty since 2009. We totally trust her and only have good things to say about her. We had tried different Chinese medicine doctors in lower mainland until we found Betty and stayed with her since then. She is very professional, patient and caring. Betty spends sufficient time on understanding your situation and develops customized treatment plan that fits you. Betty is our only recommendation if we are ever asked by our relatives, friends and coworkers for good Chinese medicine doctors!

I have been to Betty for the past several years. I live in Vancouver and she is out of my area but I make a point to go to her instead of locally. I will tell you that I feel so amazing when I leave Betty's clinic. My
energy level comes back up. She is also a very kind and thoughtful
person and I highly recommend her treatments.
