1949 Ronald Maycock opened the first location of Maycock Optical over in 1949 at the corner of Johnson and Broad in downtown Victoria. 1951 - The Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh (later Queen Elizabeth II) and The Duke of Edinburgh visit Victoria. 2015 Brian and Karen Maycock have officially retired with the business being purchased by Dr. Jason Maycock and his wife Carrie.

Born and raised in Victoria, Dr. Jason Maycock returned to the island shortly after obtaining his Doctor of Optometry with distinction from Pacific University in Oregon. Dr. Maycock is a member of the optometric honour society, Beta Sigma Kappa, and was a past president of the Pacific University chapter.
