Hub Equipment was incorporated in 1946 in Moncton, New Brunswick when its founder T.H. Stevenson saw the potential to redeploy surplus contractor equipment. The vast potential of the equipment rental industry was slowly beginning to emerge across North America and Europe. His son, Verne Stevenson, moved the business to Brockville, Ontario in the 1950's where it briefly became a Ford Industrial Tractor dealer.
Buying and selling used equipment became a staple of Hub, as well as a growing rent-to-rent business. With the completion of the St. Lawrence Seaway, Hub relocated to Toronto in the late 1950's. In addition to air compressors and ride on compaction, at that time Hub rented concrete plants, wide pad (LGP) dozers, pipelayers and long reach excavators in an effort to break apart from the crowd.
