The Stone Centre Inc is Ontario's largest professional monumental stone working company. We design and manufacture all types of cemetery memorials, and carry a full line of cemetery accessories and related products. All our work is done in house and we deliver and install memorials free of charge (when permitted by cemetery regulations), in all cemeteries throughout Southwestern Ontario (see map on Delivery Areas page).
Since the spring of 1909, our company has been continuously owned and operated by the Nelson family. Over the years, we have accumulated an unparalleled amount of knowledge and experience related to granite quarrying, stone working, monument design and manufacturing, and all types of cemetery work.

Our History
Report
Our company was founded in the year 1909, by George W. Nelson & his brother Percy Nelson at Lower Cape in Albert County, New Brunswick (near the famous Hopewell Cape Rocks). The Nelson brothers initially set up their business in an old church, with the showroom and offices at the front of the building and the manufacturing facilities at the back.
Photo Galleries
Report
Over the years we have made thousands of beautiful family memorials, but we are rarely able get out to take pictures. If you would like to see your family memorial featured in our galleries, please send us your photo along with any notes and the photographers name, and we will be glad to post it for you.
Monuments Album 1
Report
Lettering detail from the inset plaque on the William Ian DeWitt Hutt monument. Back of stone with maple leaves & a picture of the SEGUIN family maple sugaring operations. This lot had several graves with old burials that had never been marked with a monument. The stone was erected in 2013 by a descendant and commemorates his parents and identifies the other family members buried in these old graves.
Restoration Work
Report
This bench was imported from Italy by Mrs. Timothy Eaton and it was broken and sitting in pieces when we were asked to do the restoration. At some point in time the bench was painted white, but under all the paint, was a gorgeous piece of pink Italian marble. We repaired the broken pieces, cleaned off the paint and repolished the bench to it's original splendor.
Cemetery Regulations
Report
All cemeteries in Ontario are required to have a set of Bylaws or Rules & Regulations that must be filed with the Ontario Cemetery Registrar's office. Some Bylaws are very simple, while others are very complex. In most cemeteries, you cannot simply put up whatever you want. You have to play by the rules set out in the bylaws or regulations.
