However, while we tend to lump both upholstered items and carpeting into the same "home furnishings" category, the sensitive nature of many of the fibers used in upholstery fabrics, as well as some of the construction characteristics, make cleaning and spot and stain removal riskier in upholstery than it is in carpet.
