Having been in business for over 80 years, we have been able to direct our students towards successful job opportunities, and to advance the certification level of skilled welders as well. The experienced instructors are certified, and licensed by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) and the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).

General Welding School LTD is registered as a Private Career College under the Private Career Colleges Act 2005. Students must be 18 years or older to apply and financing may be available through government programs. Established in 1935, General Welding School Ltd. is Canada's oldest welding school.

Why Welding

Training at The General Welding School Ltd. is based on practical methods; in-shop and classroom theory modules, both providing a full understanding on how to be a competent, knowledgeable welder. Testing leads to welding certification. Other more technologically advanced processes have not replaced Electric Arc as the primary process in structural welding because the electric arc process is technically suited for exterior welding.

Upon completion of this program, individuals will have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain entry level welding positions that do not require TSSA or CWB certification. Class hours are flexible to fit your schedule. You can attend 9am-12pm, 1pm-4pm or 9am-3pm. Fees include 162 hours of (shop/class) instruction, books, and safety equipment.

This is a one on one training program and we have classes starting every Monday. Come in with your deposit to register and select your training schedule (morning, afternoon or full day). After registering, your course will start within 1 - 3 weeks depending on availability. Space is limited so contact us now, the sooner you call, the sooner you will start your new career.
