Tick Talk
Report
Over the past few years the Canadian tick population has been growing, resulting in people having to remove ticks from themselves and their pets. Ticks are most often found in areas of overgrown grass, weeds and low brush. Most ticks employ an ambush technique where they climb to the tip of the grass/brush waiting for a potential new "host" to walk by.
Cats: Think Paws-itive
Report
People often believe that declawing their cat is a harmless "quick fix" for unwanted scratching. Scratching is normal cat behaviour. It isn't done to intentionally destroy your favourite chair. Cats scratch to remove the dead husks from their claws, mark territory, and stretch their muscles. Cats are usually about 8 weeks old when they begin scratching.
Did you Know
Report
As the old saying goes "the first step is acceptance", this is especially true in pet care. Owners need to accept that any pet can pick up fleas or heartworm and your fur baby is no exception! See below for some hair-raising truths about fleas and heartworm.

1. Heartworm comes from mosquitoes -You might be surprised to learn that heartworm cannot be transmitted from your pooch pigging out at the garbage can buffet or coming into contact with another infected dog.Heartworm can only be transmitted directly from mosquitoes. When an infected mosquito bites a new victim, heartworm larvae are injected.
