Our mission is to advance the practice of Insurance Medicine. We believe that medical science is the basis for providing fair and accurate pricing, underwriting of applications and claim service. Our membership includes physicians as our largest group with nurses and interested insurance professionals playing an active role as well.

The American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM) is among the oldest medical specialty organizations in the United States. Our physician members typically serve as medical directors to insurance companies. Members may serve these companies as advisors for underwriting and consultants for claims and disability management.
About Insurance Medicine

Physicians (MD, DO) practicing Insurance Medicine work within the fields of life, health, disability and long term care insurance. Medical Directors analyze medical records of applicants to determine insurance risk and to evaluate life and disability claims. Insurance Medicine also provides opportunities for doctors to take on administrative roles, perform analytical research, and provide training for non-physician underwriters.
