Process
Report
Canadians enjoy the right to silence, such that they do not have to answer questions or give a statement to the police after being arrested, or during a criminal investigation. More importantly, "a healthy suspicion of the law demands the right to silence".

Most people have watched American movies or television shows in which the arresting police officer handcuffs a suspect and tells him or her that he or she has the right to remain silent, but if they give up the right, anything they say can and will be used against them in a court of law.As well, the suspect is advised of his or her right to speak to an attorney.
Young Offenders
Report
Young offenders may face the same criminal or drug charges as adults, but there are more options for the presiding Justice or Judge in Youth Court to consider. For example, in youth court, the focus is on rehabilitation and reparation, with deterrence and retribution reserved for the most serious crimes.
