Our roots begin in 1968, when Jose Monteiro, our founder, began selling insurance and financial products after emigrating from his native Portugal. Paul now serves as our Principle Broker. The history of Monteiro Insurance Brokers can be traced to 1968, when Jose Monteiro began selling insurance and financial products in Galt, Ontario. He had arrived in Canada from his native Portugal in 1964, leaving behind the island of Santa Maria, where he had been raised and educated. His knowledge of English allowed him to help new Portuguese immigrants upon their arrival in Cambridge.
