FAQ – Manual Osteopathy
Report
Manual osteopathy (MO) is a complementary form of healing. It focuses on the interrelationship between the structure and function of the body. The goal is to work toward total body health through treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles, and spine.
RAPID is a manual (hands-on) treatment that uses a combination of techniques. Typically, there will be a continuous cycle of evaluation and treatment throughout the session, as your therapist manually detects where there are problem-areas and how they need to be addressed.
Much of your treatment will consist of palpation, in which your therapist will move his or her hands over specific areas to evaluate factors such as the tightness and movement of various musculoskeletal parts (including muscles, joints, nerves, ligaments, and fascia). In some cases, your therapist may ask you to make a specific movement during the treatment to make his/her motions more effective.
