Northwestern Veterinary Hospital was established in 2005 as Northwestern Ontario's largest companion animal hospital. With 13 veterinarians sharing over 100 years of combined experience and nearly 50 support staff, we provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care for dogs and cats. Our 6,500-square-foot facility features separate cat and dog wards, dedicated surgical and dental suites, and advanced diagnostic capabilities. We maintain a warm, welcoming environment with natural light and modern amenities while prioritizing patient comfort through radiant floor heating and continuous monitoring.As pet owners ourselves, we emphasize compassionate care across all services, from routine wellness exams to complex orthopedic procedures. Our in-house pharmacy and retail selection ensure convenient access to medications and veterinary-approved products. While currently unable to accept new clients due to capacity constraints, we remain committed to delivering high-quality care with transparency and expertise.

We're open daily from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with surgery check-in from 7:30-8:00 AM and veterinarian appointments 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Will not agree to see my daughter's sick cat. They advised her to take the cat to Kenora. Yah... An emotionally distressed young woman, driving 500 kilometres, in the middle of winter, down one of the country's most icy and dangerous roads for a 15 minute look at a cat. Awful.

Dont call yourself a vet hospital if you refuse to take pets in emergencies. Your inhumane is what you are. Tried to get my dog seen whos in a great deal of pain and having a great deal of trouble walking and even going to the bathroom and they refused us and told us to drive to Winnipeg to the closest vet hospital. YOURE CALLED A VET HOSPITAL.

Got on to see the vet within a day of calling. They can be short staffed at the front and seem stressed out some days. The vets are always friendly and thorough.

It has taken a moment to be able too get into a vet lately, once I got in. They had a great environment and staff who absolutely loved on the pets that came I'm and were great too talk with about my own animal care!

I thought a veterinarian took an oath to help animals?? My dog started to have seizures and they refused to see and help him because he was not a patient. Told me to go to my own vet and I told them it was 16 hrs away. Acted as if I was bothering them. We drove 16 hrs to get to my vet and by that time he had 5 seizures and it was too late and we had to have him put to sleep. We are devastated and disgusted in this place.
