Services
About Us
Report
Central Nova Animal Hospital opened in 1987 as a single veterinarian practice with two support staff. In 1995 we became one of the first practices in Atlantic Canada to become AAHA accredited. To maintain our AAHA status we must meet the most rigorous up-to-date standards of the veterinary profession through evaluation every three years.
Our Doctors
Report
Dr. Jennifer grew up in Lower Onslow but after high school headed for Acadia University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science. She returned to Truro in 1998 to attend the Agricultural College where she did her research in Animal Science. While there she volunteered with us and this gradually turned into a part time job.
Take a Tour
Report
Central Nova Animal Hospital first opened it's doors to the public in 1987 by Dr. Ernie Prowse. At the time, the clinic was located in a facility on Pictou Road in Bible Hill, which is just outside of Truro. As client numbers increased we outgrew our facility. In 1992 Central Nova Animal Hospital relocated from Pictou Road to our current location at 29 Main Street.
Surgical Services
Report
Our surgical facility meets the highest standards set out by the American Animal Health Association. Patient comfort and safety are our main priorities. These are supported by state-of-the-art monitoring and surgical equipment, intravenous fluids, warming blankets, effective pain control and most importantly, continuous monitoring by both veterinarians and animal health technicians.
Dental Care
Report
Dental disease is one of our most common and serious medical problems. Proper dental cleaning requires general anesthesia. We have a separate dentistry area where we can provide routine cleanings, polish and fluoride treatments as well as periodontal treatment and extractions. The costs and health concerns to the pet will vary markedly with the stage of dental disease.
