After her first few years of practice, Dr. Jessica Chang noticed her patients often had a poor understanding of the relation between their vision and eye health. Dr. Chang and her team decided to open a practice with the newest technology to help educate patients and detect eye health problems as early as possible.

Dry eye disease is a chronic condition where there is a deficiency in the quantity and/or quality of your tears. This causes poor lubrication which leads to damage and inflammation on the eye's surface. Your tears are made of 3 layers: oily layer, watery layer, mucous layer. There are multiple factors contributing to de-stabilizing these 3 layers which causes dry eye disease.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Karen HL Lee completed her undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology and Genetics. She then obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo and graduated on the Dean's Honour List.

Dr. Ying Zhao is an Associate Optometrist at Avenue Eyecare. In this role, she provides comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages, and has a particular interest in contact lenses. She has a wide array of knowledge on various disposable soft contact lenses, and is also certified to fit orthokeratology ("Ortho K") lenses for myopia control.
