Orthodontics is the science of gently moving teeth and jaws that are misaligned. As orthodontists, Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen work to diagnose, prevent and correct misaligned teeth and jaws. Conditions commonly treated with orthodontics, include crowded teeth, overbites, underbites and spacing (gaps between teeth).
Treatment
Report
Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen use a variety of orthodontic appliances to gently move teeth into the correct position. Today, there are many options for treatment including traditional metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign, and clear and metal retainers. Treatment depends on each patient's particular case, and typically takes between 1-3 years to complete.
Kids
Report
Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen recommend that children have their first orthodontic appointment when they turn 7 years old. By then, their first adult teeth have come through and can be evaluated for any irregular teeth and jaw concerns like cross bites, under bites, and crowding. Treatment of children is best done in two phases.

Improve your personal appearance, self-esteem and the health of your teeth and gums through orthodontic treatment. Correcting misaligned teeth and jaws, which not only improves your appearance, but can also prevent gum disease, bone loss, tooth decay, wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint pain.
Orthognathic Surgery
Report
Corrective jaw surgery, known as orthognathic surgery, corrects conditions of the face and jaw that cannot easily be treated with braces. In addition to affecting your facial appearance, jaw problems may affect your ability to chew, speak, and breathe. In growing children, Dr. Loo and Dr. Yen can often use orthodontic appliances (headgear or facemask) to direct jaw and bone growth, which may eliminate the need for surgery in some patients.
