Physiotherapists Steve Schmidt and Jaime McDowell co-founded Coastal Physiotherapy in downtown Comox in 2007, with fellow Physiotherapist Trevor Wilson joining them as a partner in 2016. We have six physiotherapists, a sports medicine physician and two registered massage therapists dedicated to providing optimal, client-specific care.

Jaime holds a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. Jaime co-founded Coastal Physiotherapy in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT). This is the highest qualification recognized internationally for orthopaedic physiotherapists.

At Coastal Physiotherapy & Sports Rehabilitation, we are happy to save you time by providing DIRECT BILLING to the insurance providers below. For all work-related injuries, WorkSafeBC will pay for your initial visit as long as your claim is registered with WorkSafeBC and you have a claim number. Further physiotherapy treatment may be covered after your claim is approved.

No. Physiotherapists are university trained medical professionals and primary care practitioners. This means that you have direct access to Physiotherapy without a doctor's referral. We do recommend, however, that you communicate with your doctor about your participation in physiotherapy so that we can work together and share knowledge as required during your treatment.
