Ballet Classes
Our Royal Academy of Dance certified instructors teach classical ballet techniques to students of all levels. Classes follow the internationally recognized RAD syllabus, preparing students for examinations that can count toward academic credits. The program emphasizes proper technique, posture, and artistic expression through structured curriculum.
Competitive Dance
This program challenges dedicated dancers through advanced training and performance opportunities. Students participate in competitions, festivals, and special events while developing technical proficiency and stage presence. The program offers multiple commitment levels from pre-competitive to full competitive divisions.
X-Celerator Program
Designed for serious dancers in grades 7-12, this half-day program combines advanced dance training with academic credit fulfillment. Students receive specialized instruction in ballet, jazz, and performance techniques while meeting BC Ministry of Education requirements. The schedule allows for evening family time and homework completion.
Private Rentals
Our versatile dance studios are available for private group rentals including birthday parties, adult dance lessons, and special events. Spaces range from 630 to 1200 square feet with flexible configurations. Available amenities include sound systems, mirrors, and sprung flooring for safe dancing.
Recreational Classes
Weekly dance classes for ages 3-19 introduce students to various styles including hip hop, tap, and contemporary. Participants enjoy performance opportunities at holiday and year-end recitals. The program focuses on fun, creativity, and foundational dance skills in a non-competitive environment.

Amanda Fischer established Shift Dance Academy in 2012 with a vision to create a positive dance community. With extensive industry experience, she leads a team of accomplished instructors while maintaining personal involvement in program development and student mentorship.

We offer ballet (RAD certified), jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre, acro, tap, lyrical, and pointe classes for all skill levels.
Do you have competitive dance teams?
Yes, our Competitive Program includes performance, pre-competitive, and full competitive divisions with varying commitment levels and performance opportunities.
What is the X-Celerator program?
This half-day program combines advanced dance training with academic credit fulfillment for grades 7-12 students through the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum.
Are private studio rentals available?
Yes, we offer private rentals for birthday parties, adult dance lessons, and special events in our 630-1200 sq ft studios with flexible configurations.
What are your office hours?
Our office is open Monday-Thursday 1:00PM-9:00PM, Friday 3:00PM-6:00PM, and closed weekends for registration and inquiries.

Ive been dancing at shift since the very beginning and ive grown so much, not only as a dancer but also as a person. Ive been able to meet the most amazing group of friends and I consider shift my second home. The teachers at Shift care so much about their students and are consistently working hard to make sure each dancer succeeds at their fullest potential.

It's a well known dance academy with the right mix of formal and casual interactions to match most children. I dont attend myself but I spoke with several people who do. There is parallel parking out storefront, vending machine, and wifi at this location. 4 stars, take the kids here for a break and attend a dance off every so often.

Such an amazing dance studio! I have learned so much and the teachers/staff are amazing! definitely a 10/10. My classmates are so supportive and the teachers really take the time to get to know you and what you want to work and and how you can further improve as an individual. I would definitely recommend.

Some instructors waste time by playing kindergarten games with teens for 50 minutes and teaching the actual dance for 10 min in one hour class. Waste of money.

Shift is an amazing, strong, and confident dance community. All the teachers that work at Shift are all expirienced and they all give their full, undivided attention to each and every one of the kids. As well, the teachers have great learning methods and make sure all the kids are learning, as well as having fun!
