My years of experience as an Exclusive Custom Home Builder and Home Renovator have given me the background that is essential to perform a quality home inspection. Knowing that you cannot just switch hats and call yourself a home inspector, I researched the industry for educational courses. In 1992 I successfully completed The Inspection Training Associates Course in Property Inspection.
Home Inspections

For pre-purchase home inspections the inspection is typically conducted after the contract is signed - provided the contract contains a clause making the sale conditional on the results of the home inspection. Most inspections are available on one to five days' notice. You will learn a lot about the home during the inspection.
Thermal Imaging
Report
Thermal imaging will help to identify surface temperature variations of the building envelope, which are directly related to problems in structure, moisture content and air leakage. It can also be used to find hidden heating and cooling losses due to moisture intrusion, inadequate or non-existent insulation, and poor construction.
Radon Testing

The EPA estimates that radon causes 21,000 deaths in the USA each year. The National Cancer Institute of Canada estimated deaths from lung cancer in 2006 as: 10,700 men and 8,600 women. In 10 per cent of these cases, radon would have caused the lung cancer. Total 1,930 in Canada each year. It is the radon decay products that actually present the health risk associated with radon gas.
